Celebrate Social Wellness Month

Social Wellness Month

July is Social Wellness Month, a great reminder that social capital is important for the physical, mental and emotional health of our seniors. Seniors with strong social networks boast higher rates of increased mobility, positive health-seeking behaviors, good mental and emotional health, and significantly lower rates of cognitive decline than their less-social counterparts.

Research shows that social seniors are more likely to follow helpful health tips and be motivated to attend screenings. Trust in one’s community also encourages physical and mental activity that has a large impact on cognitive functioning as we age.

This month, help us celebrate social wellness by visiting a loved one, volunteering at one of our houses, or by just by spending time with your friends and family.
